Stoxx Europe 600 Index Falls 1.36%
European stocks closed lower on Friday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 Index dropping 1.36% to 433.73.
Individual Stock Performances
The German DAX declined 1.64% to 14,798.47, while the French CAC 40 index declined 1.52% to 6,816.22 and the FTSE 100 index fell 1.30% to 7,402.14.
Among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, machinery company Tomra Systems ASA saw the largest decline on Friday, with shares cratering 22.6%.
Shares of health care/life sciences firm Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A. and company Husqvarna AB Series B dropped 8.4% and 8.0% respectively.
Gerresheimer AG, an industrial goods company, and mining & metals firm Boliden AB rounded out the top five largest decreases as their stocks fell 7.2% each.
Top Performers of the Day
On the other hand, Lifco AB Series B, a business/consumer services company, saw the largest increase among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with shares adding 6.8% on Friday.
Shares of real estate firm Wallenstam AB Series B and insurance company Gjensidige Forsikring ASA rose 5.4% and 4.7% respectively.
Genmab A/S, a health care/life sciences company, and health care/life sciences business Idorsia Ltd. rounded out the top five largest increases as their stocks added 3.9% and 3.8% respectively.
Currency and Crude Oil Outlook
The pound was up 0.06% against the dollar, and the euro was up 0.08%. Meanwhile, Brent crude rose 1.00% to $93.30.
Yield on Government Bonds
The yield on the 10-year British gilt rose 0.54 basis points to 4.656%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund fell 2.290 basis points to 2.89%.
