Top Gainers
Among the FTSE 100 constituents, Antofagasta PLC saw the most significant increase, with shares rallying by 4.23%. The shares of InterContinental Hotels Group PLC and Ashtead Group PLC also performed well, increasing by 3.64% and 3.01%, respectively.
RS Group PLC, a wholesalers company, and Burberry Group PLC rounded out the top five gainers with their stocks rising by 2.80% and 2.53%, respectively.
Top Losers
Anglo American PLC, a general mining company, experienced the largest drop among the FTSE 100 constituents, as its shares plummeted by 20.97% on Friday. The shares of Berkeley Group Holdings PLC and Imperial Brands PLC also declined by 4.05% and 1.97%, respectively.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC and BT Group PLC were among the top five decliners, with their stocks witnessing a decrease of 1.77% and 1.67%, respectively.
Currency and Commodity Update
The pound weakened by 0.44% against the dollar, trading at $1.2539, while it strengthened by 0.02% against the euro, reaching €1.1669.
Brent crude rallied by 2.2% to $75.67, and the yield on the 10-year gilt rose 6.820 basis points to 4.041%.
