Top Gainers
Among the FTSE 100 constituents, the residential building construction company Persimmon PLC saw the largest increase, as its shares rose by 2.26%. Precious metals firm Fresnillo PLC and diversified reits company British Land Co. PLC also saw notable gains, with their shares increasing by 2.21% and 2.00% respectively.
Other top gainers included Taylor Wimpey PLC, a residential building construction company, and aerospace products/parts firm Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC, whose stocks rallied 1.95% and 1.83% respectively.
Top Losers
On the other hand, Kingfisher PLC, a home goods retail company, saw the largest decline among the FTSE 100 constituents, with its shares dropping by 2.37% on Wednesday. Wired telecommunications services firm BT Group PLC and electric utilities company SSE PLC also experienced losses, as their shares shed 1.64% and 1.24% respectively.
Currency and Commodities
The pound had a positive day against the dollar, rising by 0.64% to $1.2724, and it also gained 0.21% against the euro, reaching €1.1645.
Brent crude oil prices rallied by 0.3% to $85.13, while the yield on the 10-year gilt rose to 4.428%.
