The U.K. stock market saw gains on Thursday, with the FTSE 100 Index closing up 0.18% at 7,333.63.
Top Gainers
Among the FTSE 100 constituents, the clothing retail company JD Sports Fashion PLC (JD) experienced the largest increase in share prices, rising by 5.07%.
Food retail firm Ocado Group PLC (OCDO) and chemicals company Croda International PLC (CRDA) also performed well, with their shares rising by 1.76% and 1.66% respectively.
Precious metals company Fresnillo PLC (FRES) and precision products business Halma PLC (HLMA) completed the top five gainers, as their stocks increased by 1.52% and 1.42% respectively.
Top Losers
International Distribution Services PLC (IDS), an air freight company, experienced the largest decline among the FTSE 100 constituents, with shares falling by 1.90% on Thursday.
Hotels firm Whitbread PLC (WTB) and building materials/products company CRH PLC (CRH) also saw their shares decrease by 1.66% and 1.51% respectively.
General mining company BHP Group Ltd. (BHP) and wired telecommunications services company BT Group PLC (BT.A) rounded out the top five losers, with their stocks falling by 1.48% and 1.36% respectively.
Currency and Commodity Movements
The pound weakened against the dollar, down by 0.73% at $1.2631, and also declined by 0.37% against the euro, trading at €1.1670.
Brent crude oil shed 0.1%, reaching $83.09, while the yield on the 10-year gilt declined by 4.430 basis points to 4.426%.
