Duke Energy has announced the launch of its Charge Solution program, a rental program that allows residential and business customers in North Carolina to lease electric vehicle (EV) chargers on a monthly basis. The program aims to provide customers with the convenience of having their own charger without the need for upfront costs.
Convenient and Cost-Effective Charging
The _Charlotte_-based energy company's Charge Solution program was approved by the North Carolina Utilities Commission in August. The rental service includes the necessary hardware, warranty, and maintenance for the EV chargers.
For residential customers, the rates start at approximately $14 per month. These customers have the option to enter into a three-year rental term for a Level 2 charger, which can fully recharge an electric vehicle within eight to ten hours.
Business and multifamily customers, on the other hand, have the option to enter into a four-year rental term for a Level 2 charger or a seven-year rental term for a faster charger.
Duke Energy's Commitment to Electric Vehicles
Duke Energy's Charge Solution program is just one of many offerings the company has introduced in North Carolina. State officials in North Carolina are aiming to have 1.25 million EVs in the state by 2030, and Duke Energy is working towards that goal. Currently, Duke Energy has 17 active and approved EV programs, with two more pending approval.
In the future, the company plans to file for regulatory approval to expand similar rental programs across all of its service areas, including South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, and Kentucky.
